About the Scheme;

          The Newspaper Delivery Workers belong to the unorganised sector of workers who do part time work of delivering newspapers at the doorsteps of the public.  Most of them use two wheelers for delivering the news papers and so more prone to accidents. Hence, it is intended to give social security benefits by providing accident compensation and medical assistance to these workers.

 Eligibilty to avail the benefits:

  • Should be the resident of
  • 16-59 years of age.
  • Should be registered in e-Shram portal under the category of “News paper boy”.
  • Should not be an income tax payer.
  • Should not be a beneficiary of EPF & ESI.

 

Benefits available:

  • Accidental death benefit of - Rs.2.00 lakhs
  • In case of permanent disability due to accident - Upto Rs.2.00 lakhs (based on percentage of disability.)
  • Reimbursement of hospital expenses for the treatment for accident/critical illness/deadly diseases upto to 1.00 lakh.

 

Other Details

  • All News Paper Delivery workers should register in e-Shram portal (eshram.gov.in) themselves or can register through the nearest Seva Kendras and avail the benefits of the Scheme. (For registration process under eShram click here)
  • All eligible beneficiaries can avail the benefit by submitting prescribed application along with the necessary documents.
